Dorothy M. Cowan

Dorothy M. Cowan, was born on May 27, 1918 to John and Helen (Judycki) Synakowski in Utica, New York and died at Sunset Village on April 13, 2019. Dorothy was one of eight children. Dorothy married her husband David on May 17, 1947. Together they raised their two daughters in Utica before relocating to Holland, Ohio in their retirement. Dorothy worked for over thirty years for Sears Roebuck where she retired as manager for the boys department. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, antiquing and spending time with her family and her many dogs over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband David and is survived by daughters Eleanor (John) Swiecki, Victoria (Thomas) Bartlett; four grandchildren Melissa Swiecki, Wesley (Stephanie) Bartlett, Kimberly (Brandon) Hoff and David Bartlett; and four great-grandchildren Elliette Bartlett, Isaac Bartlett, Kiersten Hoff and Kelsie Hoff. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church on Tuesday April 23 at 11:30 AM with inurnment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
