Dorothy Carlson

September 5, 1931 — April 5, 2021

Dorothy Jean Carlson (Company), 89, of Port Clinton, passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 5, 1931 in Tiffin to Victor and Norine (Albus) Wurm. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Calvert High School. Shortly after graduation, she married Thomas “Tom” Company Sr. on March 10, 1951. Together, they shared 28 years until Tom’s passing on July 27, 1979. Dorothy and Tom owned the Bowl-O-Drome in Tiffin during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Dorothy was very active in many sports; she loved to bowl, was a good golfer and won the “A” Flight Club Championship at the Mohawk Golf Course. If she wasn’t playing sports, she was watching them on TV. She loved watching basketball and football. Dorothy often went to Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe to visit her kids and made sure to play some of her favorite poker machines too. In June of 1985, Dorothy married William “Bill” Carlson. They owned Catawba Glassworks. Bill and Dorothy enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling until Bill’s passing in 1997. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and making memories that will live on. Dorothy‘s whole life revolved around her seven kids and their families. She couldn’t wait for the holidays when she would host a gathering for the entire family. Although they were living all over the country they would all find a way home for these special events. That’s what made her life so happy and special. Dorothy is survived by her children, Thomas (Melinda) Company Jr. of Port Clinton, Randy Company of Tiffin, Laura (Jim) Thomas of Las Vegas, Brenda Dillard of Port Clinton, Kim Alexander of Port Clinton, Chris Company of Port Clinton and Todd (Donna) Company of Avon; grandchildren, Tamra Company, Conrad Company, Jamie Little Selman, Mike Dillard Jr., Amanda Dillard-Brodersen, Casey Kent, Ryan Alexander and Sydney Alexander; sisters, Kathleen Klopp, Nancy Warnement and Janet Altwies; brother, Mike Wurm; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Norine Wurm and sister, Peg Warnement. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 3, 2021 beginning 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 101 Miami Street, Tiffin, OH 44883. Private burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens.
