The death is announced of Dorothy Jean Broadhurst, aged 87. Dorothy was born in Barton, Alabama to Earnest Solon Matthews and Edna Naomi Dixon on August 7, 1930. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother and father and her sister Lorraine Fambrough and her brother William Edward Matthews and JD Matthews. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 38 years to Malcolm Broadhurst, her sisters Viola Perry of Toledo and Francis Griggs in Waynesboro, TN, and her brother Raymond Wilson (Tip) Mathews of Toledo. Dorothy leaves two daughters, Pamela Jean Chambers of Queensland Australia and Penelope (Douglas) Lehmann of Cape Coral, Florida from her previous marriage of Robert James Massey. Dorothy also leaves three grandsons, David (Nita) Broughton, Shawn Broughton and Adam Lehmann, three great grand grandchildren, Marvin, Ashley and Katelyn and two great, great grandchildren, Lydia Rose and Roman and numerous nieces, nephews and family members. Dorothy moved from Tennesee to Toledo at an early age and attended Woodward High School in Toledo, Ohio. Dorothy was a very loving and devoted Christian mother, she loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by her family and peers. Dorothy spent her life taking care of family, working very hard through life providing well for her family. Dorothy was well known for her beautiful smile through all of her service work from hostessing, waitressing in many fine restaurants in Toledo. She was also a business owner in gift shops and retail. Dorothy was also very active in her church work and friends passing the word of God. Dorothy was always ready to give a helping to the needy and to Gods little animals giving them water, shelter and food. Dorothy left this world to a new heaven received by God on Feb 24th, 2018, and she will welcomed there by her family at the Golden Gates. Visitation will be held at the Walker Funeral Home at 5155 W Sylvania Ave, in Toledo on Thursday, March 1st, at 4-7 pm with services held 6-7pm. A Graveside service will be located at the Shields Cemetery in Waynesboro, TN on Saturday, March 3rd at 3:00PM. Condolences may be shared with the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
