Dorothy V. Borchert, 84, formerly of Hill Ave., Toledo, Ohio, died peacefully at Parkcliffe Community, Northwood, Ohio. She was born March 14, 1927, in Toledo to Fred J. and Vera H. Morrin Brown. She was a 1945 Libbey High School graduate. She retired after 20+ years as a payroll clerk at The Toledo Hospital. Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Toledo, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also active in the Maumee Valley Save-A-Pet and the C.C.L. Child Conservation League. Dorothy loved to read, do puzzles, crosswords, garage sale and enjoyed taking bus trips. She was especially skilled at sewing and alterations and was known for always bringing her trademark Jell-O desserts to any festive occasion. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Karen Bill Dean, son, William Lisa Borchert, and daughter, Shelly Tom Scheanwald and her grandchildren who fondly referred to her as Grandma Dot Abigail Dean Rob Hicks, Molly Brandon Wallace, Matt Borchert, Lauren, Leslie and Alan Scheanwald and great grandchildren, Lydia and Jude Wallace. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Doris, brother Bud, and ex-husband Wendell. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, 3360 Nebraska Ave., Toledo, with private graveside services to follow in Ottawa Hills Cemetery, Toledo.
