Dorothy Ann (Bowling) Blevins, 83, passed away at Ebeid Hospice Center in Sylvania, OH on Thursday September 7,2017. Dorothy was born November 11, 1933 in Prestonsburg, KY to Elzie and June (Wilburn) Bowling. Dorothy grew up in Prestonsburg, KY and graduated from Prestonsburg High School in 1951. After graduation, she attended Spencerian Commercial School in Louisville, KY. On November 1,1956, Dorothy married the love of her life, John B. Blevins Sr. and the two of them were blessed with over 55 years of marriage. John and Dorothy moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1957 after John accepted a position with Continental Aviation (Teledyne CAE). Dorothy worked for Pilliod Cabinet Company in Swanton, Ohio and in partnership with her husband, owned and operated Clean All Cleaning Contractors for over 20 years. As a dedicated Christian, Dorothy was a serving member of Faith Baptist Church in Lambertville, MI since 1957. Dorothy served as secretary of Sunday School and was a member of the Joy Club. Prior to moving to Toledo, she served in the Sunday School ministries in Eastern Kentucky. Dorothy was a highly intelligent woman who loved to read and complete crossword puzzles. Her quick wit, and sense of humor made her a joy to be around. She loved to cook and her “dirty dumplings” and peanut butter roll were legendary. Dorothy lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She always said her most important job was to take care of her husband and children. She was proceeded in death by her husband, John B. Blevins, Sr; their daughter, Katherine Ruth (Blevins) Russell; her parents, Elzie and June (Wilburn) Bowling; her brother, Robert Elzie Bowling; her grandparents, George and Lillie(Tacket) Wilburn, Fonso and Nannie (Hearld) Boyd; step- mother, Rose (Hagans) Bowling. Left to cherish her memory are her son, John B. (Svetlana) Blevins Jr of Newark, DE; daughters Rebecka J. Blevins of Toledo, OH and Martha A. (Ron) Ditmyer of Lambertville, MI; grandchildren Patrick (Lisa) Blevins of Swanton, OH, Jennifer (Mark) Blevins , Natalie Ditmyer, Brittany (Ben) White, Nick Maxson all of Toledo, OH, Ronnie (Brandi) Ditmyer Jr. of Ottawa Lake, MI and Lindsay (Jacob) Ditmyer of Toledo, Ohio; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter; brothers, Barry ( Joan ) Bowling of Garrett, KY; Larry ( Connie) Bowling of Falmouth, KY; sisters Betty Spitnal of Oregon, OH, Brenda Hall of Abbott, KY, Verna Bowling of Langley, KY and Anna Wright of Lexington, KY. Friends may call at Walker Funeral Home,5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Road) on Monday, September 11th from 3pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 12th at Faith Baptist Church, 6245 Whiteford Center Rd. Lambertville, MI. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Donations may be made on her behalf to Faith Baptist Church.
