Dorothy L. Blausey

Dorothy L. Blausey, age 90, of North Carolina, formerly of Oregon and Genoa, Ohio, died Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Windsor Pointe, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Dorothy was born July 19, 1921, in Northwood, Ohio, to Alfred J. and Addie L. (Koenig) Flury. On October 24, 1946, she married Richard H. Blausey in Toledo, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2006. Dorothy graduated from Lake High School in 1939 and Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo in 1942. During WWII she worked at the VA Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, and later in life worked at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, retiring in 1983. Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa, where she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the funeral choir and the Rosary Altar Society. She liked to dance, play cards, travel and bake. She and her husband had a large garden, sharing the produce with family and friends. She also enjoyed biking and walking at Pearson Park and the Woodville Mall. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Elsie Davis and Beatrice Vogelbacher and brother, Virgil Flury. She is survived by daughters, Jacqueline (Jay) Yourist of Miami, FL, Jeanne M. Blausey of Southfield, MI, and son, Richard (Lois) H. Blausey, Jr. of NC; grandchildren, John (Laura) A. Blausey and Robert F. Blausey; great grandchildren, Jonathan, Claire and Paige Blausey, as well as several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 10, 2019, 11 A.M., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 204 S. Main Street, Genoa, Ohio 43430, where the body will lie in repose one hour prior. Interment will follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family has suggested that memorials for Dorothy go to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Helping Hands of St. Louis, 443 6th St., Toledo, OH 43605 or the donors choice. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
