DOROTHY J. BENSON Dorothy J. Benson, 63, of Maumee, OH died, December 21, 2014, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born in Toledo on, January 23, 1951, to Albert (Jean Chandler) Polk. Dottie was employed for 31 years with the United States Post office at the Broadway and South Toledo Stations, where she met the love of her life, Andrew. She later retired in 2001. She married Andrew N. Benson Jr. on August 1, 1975 in Toledo. Dottie served as Union Steward for Branch 100 N.A.L.C. for many years. She enjoyed reading, needlework, swimming in their back yard, and her two Rottweilers. Dottie never met a stranger that she wasn’t willing to help. She was very kind and generous to her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews. Surviving is her spouse, Andrew; sisters, Carlaann Stiles, Paula F.Howe, Sheree L. Hope and Anna M. Golden; aunt of Allan (Karen) Stiles, Chad Howe, John Hope II, Tara Bowman, Melissa Bowman, Katy Golden, Kathy, Bob, John (Jenny) Benson, Fred and Frank (Barbara) LaPlante; niece of Pauline Caddarette and Mary Fowler; 6 great nieces and 5 great nephews; good friends, The Plewa Sisters and Marisa and Frank Ruggiero. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert (Jean) Polk; brother, Albert Polk III, and loving niece, Andrea Hope. Friends will be received from 2-8 PM on Friday in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 222 E. South Boundary, Perrysburg, OH (419-874-3133) where funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with burial to follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
