Dorothy J. Amon, 84, of Toledo and formerly of Perrysburg passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Rosary Care Center, Sylvania, Ohio. She was born in Bowling Green, Ohio on October 3, 1931 to Fred and Anna Laura (Brunthaver) Heinze. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She worked as a tailor for the former Damschroders in Perrysburg and also Harriet’s of Perrysburg, that was located in the Amon Building in Perrysburg. A devout Catholic, Dorothy attended St. Rose Catholic church where she was past president of the Altar Rosary Sodality, a catechist, lector, eucharistic minister and a volunteer for over 30 years in the school cafeteria. For many years she also volunteered at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and St. Lukes Hospital. Dorothy loved gardening and was also a pilot who was more comfortable flying than driving. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Donald; parents; son-in-law, Jerry Pollock; brothers, Charles and Francis Heinze and sisters, Mary Price, Margaret Heinze, Helen Gonyer and Lucy Lamont. She is survived by her children, Teresa (Stephen) Braun, Denise (William Salmi) Pollock, Dorothy (Scott) Husband and Donald (Kathy) Amon; grandchildren, Erin, Brad (Erin), Chad (Lindsay Barts), Justin, Maggie and Ryan; great grandchildren, Emma, Jamison and Jaxson; sisters, Loretta Bergmosser and brothers, Howard, John, Richard, Donald and Thomas Heinze. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio 43537 with a scripture services at 7 p.m. Prayers will begin at 10 a.m. in the funeral home on Friday October 16, 2015 with the funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, Ohio. Interment will follow in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery, Perrysburg, Ohio.
