Doris Wagar

Doris M. Wagar, 90, of Sylvania, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025. She was born in Sylvania to Dwight and Leona (Hite) Kramer on November 3, 1934. She graduated high school in Sylvania, then completed her nursing degree at the Toledo School of Nursing. Doris’ nursing career began at Toledo Hospital and continued until her retirement at MCO, now called the University of Toledo Medical Center. In 1958 Doris married the love of her life, Jack R. Wagar, who preceded her in death in 2003. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, keeping in touch with colleagues from nursing, friends in the Red Hat Society and acquaintances from Church. Taking family vacations across the U.S., playing cards/games, and enjoying her two sons’ accomplishments and adventures were highlights of her family time. In quiet times, Doris kept herself busy with various handicrafts such as sewing and knitting. When asked about having a treat she would always say, with a big smile, ice cream!

Doris is survived by her children; Scott (Rebecca) Wagar, of Hillsboro, OR, Mark Wagar, of Riga, MI; and granddaughter, Zoë Wagar, of CO.

Services for Doris will be private. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Walker Funeral Home, Toledo.
