Doris M. Plassman

Doris May Plassman, nee Smart, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 20, 1926, to C. Howard and Katherine Wagner Smart. She left this life on April 6th, in Xenia, Ohio, where she has lived for the last six years. She was a faithful and involved member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church for more than 45 years. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jean Blankenburg and her husband, J. Fred Plassman. She confirmed her Christian faith on March 12, 1939, at Church of the Incarnation in Cleveland. She graduated from Cleveland Heights HS in 1941. She earned her BS in Education from BGSU in 1949. While at BGSU, she met and fell in love with J. Fred Plassman whom she married on June 18, 1949. Together they raised two sons, Fred and David, and enjoyed the blessing of two daughter-in-laws, Jan and Jerri, along with five grandchildren: David wife Lisa, Anna, and Steve wife Sarah, as well as Erin husband Joe and Drew. With time they also added seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Leah; Bella and Gabby; Grace, Jesse and Samantha. She is survived by her sons, with their families, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, April 12 , 2013 from 6pm to 8pm at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral 501 Conant St., Maumee. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday, April 13, at 10am at St. Pauls Lutheran, 112 E. Wayne Street, Maumee, Ohio. Burial will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a Memorial Fund at St. Pauls Lutheran, 428 N. Erie St., Toledo, Ohio 43604.
