Doris Mae Myers, age 90, died March 8, 2021 following a brief illness. She was born April 23, 1930 in Toledo to the late Howard and Florence (Ludwig) Segan. Doris was a devoted wife and mother who found her strength from a committed life of prayer that included daily devotional readings in the morning followed by the Rosary at night. She loved her St. Pius X Church family, particularly the 8:00 a.m. Sunday Mass crowd. Doris was also an advocate of the MetroParks and liked to visit those along the river. She never missed a home game of the Toledo Rockets football team and supported the Lady Rockets basketball team with her grand-daughter, Varsana. Deeply compassionate and caring, she showed kindness to many throughout her life. Doris loved to volunteer her time including reading for the blind. She received the Bishops Cross and other awards for Excellence in Religion. Doris was a gift from God whose prayers strengthened many. She is survived by her sons, Chris and Neal Myers; and numerous other family and friends who loved her. Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harold Myers, with whom she shared 66 years of happy marriage. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where a scripture service and sharing of memories will begin at 7:30 p.m. The scripture service can be viewed via live stream by first clicking on "Tribute Wall" above and then "Watch Now" in the viewing window. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 2950 Ilger Ave., Toledo. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Facial coverings and social distancing are required at all events. Contributions in her name are suggested to Cherry Street Mission or the Toledo MetroParks.
