Doris Tilden Larson, age 91, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Kingston of Sylvania where she was a resident for the past two years. She was born and raised in Canton, Ohio and graduated from Canton Lehmann High School in 1940. She attended Denison University where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. At Denison she met the love of her life, Ken Larson, and they were married June 25, 1943. In their early years of marriage, Ken and Doris lived all over the United States from Maine to California during Ken’s career in the Navy. They settled in Perrysburg, Ohio in 1957 where they raised their family. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage until Ken’s death in 2010. Doris had a talent for numbers and worked in bookkeeping and accounting. She was an accomplished musician and played several instruments although her favorite was the piano. As a devoted bridge player, she belonged to several bridge clubs and played almost daily while at Kingston. She loved sports and was a life-long baseball fan of the Detroit Tigers. Doris was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie and Elmer A. Tilden, and her brother, Bill Tilden. She is survived by her children: Kristin L. Jeffery (James R.) of Sylvania, K. Andrew Larson (Barbara W. ) of Bristol, Indiana; five grandchildren: Tom Jeffery (Andrea), Jill Biggs (Bill), Pam VanRiper (Ned), Ben Larson (Darla) and Emily Uharriet (Philippe); eleven great grandchildren: Mason, Tyler, Billy and Kenny Biggs; Cole, Jack, Reed and Eden Rose VanRiper; Brooke Jeffery, Drew Uharriet, Zoe Larson, and nephews Doug and Scott Tilden. The family deeply appreciates and wishes to thank the staffs of Kingston of Sylvania and Senior Independence Hospice for their commitment, kindness and service to Doris. A celebration of Doris’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, 314 E. Indiana Ave., Perrysburg, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Senior Independence Hospice, 5810 Southwyck Blvd., Toledo, Ohio, 43614. Arrangements were entrusted to Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, Perrysburg, Ohio.
