Doris Kay Kirk, 52, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at her residence. She was born on June 1, 1969 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Daniel and Diane (Neff) Petersen, Sr.. She married John D. Kirk on October 3, 1992 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Port Clinton, and he survives.
Doris studied at Terra State Community College and Franklin University, earning her Associate’s degree in IT. She worked as an IT technician and as a BMV clerk.
She enjoyed crafting of all kinds, and was especially talented at the art of stained glass. She was an avid animal lover, caring for many dogs and cats over the years. Her favorite candy was butter popcorn flavored Jelly Bellys. She especially enjoyed taking family trips to Niagara Falls, Florida, and Amish Country. She will always be remembered for her strength and positivity.
Survivors include her husband, John; son, Caleb Kirk; daughter, Emilee Kirk; sisters, Angie Petersen, Jessica Sadowski (Joe Keough), Debra (Terry) Martin; several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Carol (Michael) Crone; father-in-law, Walter Kirk; sister-in law, Michelle Kirk; brothers-in law, Matthew (Angie) Crone and Brad Crone. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Daniel Petersen, Jr.; and her grandmother, Thelma Neff.
Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 135 Adams Street, Port Clinton, Ohio, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 10 am until a Memorial Service at 11 am with Pastor Warren Brown officiating. Her family is asking that everyone to please wear purple as this was Doris’s favorite color.
