Doris Holewinski

Doris J. Holewinski, age 88, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024. Doris was born on February 22, 1936, to Clement and Hilda Marciel Bussing.

In 1955, Doris married the love of her life, Thomas Holewinski, and together they shared 69 wonderful years. Doris was a talented baker and cook, known for her big holiday meals and the world’s best cutout cookies. She was also skilled at sewing and used her talents generously for those around her.

A lifelong resident of the Toledo area, Doris worked for many years at O-I. She loved traveling with Tom and the two traveled much of the country together and enjoyed the theater. Most importantly, Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Together they raised three children. They also enjoyed being with their two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Doris loved deeply and taught those around her the importance of family.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; and daughters, Cathy Wolfe and Cynthia Hiszak. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Holewinski; son, Mike (Peggy) Holewinski; sons-in-law, Sam Wolfe and Jim Hiszak; grandchildren, Heather (David) Mills, and Kevin Hiszak (Grace Hurst); and great-grandchildren, Madison Mills, Josie Hiszak and Alicyn Hiszak.

Friends and family are invited to visit at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH, on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. An hour of visitation will be held at Christ the King, 4100 Harvest Ln, Toledo, on Saturday, September 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with a funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church.
