Doris Rose Buckenmeyer

July 29, 1924 — December 9, 2012

It is with sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Doris Rose Therese Buckenmeyer, on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on July 29, 1924 to Leo Victor and Mary Rosalie Gilbert Langenderfer on October 4, 1947. She married William Charles Buckenmeyer, who died on January 12, 1996. Mom attended St. Agnes grade school and graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1942. She was an administrative secretary to the vice president of Toledo Trust Bank before leaving to raise her four children, Carol, Alan Irene, Mark Lisamari, and Jeanine. She was active in her childrens school as a volunteer, and president of the Mothers Club, and also tutored reading. For almost fifty years, mom volunteered in both the St. Vincent Gift Shop and the Pastoral Care office, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Mom was devoted to her Catholic faith, her family, and her friends. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and lived to sing, especially while dad played piano. She was a long-time member of Sweet Adelines, the Womens Auxiliary of the VFW, a Grey Nun Associate, and a member of the St. Vincent Auxiliary. A 40-plus member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish, she is currently a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald; sisters-in-law, Margaret Peggy Langenderfer, Gladys McIlhargey, and Viola Buckenmeyer; brother-in-law, Robert McIlhargey. She is survived by her children; grandchildren, Matthew Michelle, Kelley Matthew Schaaf, Rachel Thomas Lee, Mary Kris Lachowski, Luke, John, and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Jack Buckenmeyer, Cooper and Kendall Schaaf, Everett and Isaak Lee, Darwin, Aurora, and Loreli Lachowski. Also surviving are her brother, Richard Langenderfer; sister-in-law, Dorothy Langenderfer; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Cher of Visiting Angels, and Nicole and the staff of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. from 2:00-8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Capital Campaign, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo, OH 43623, Central Catholic High School, 2550 Cherry Street, or to a charity of the donors choice. May she rest in peace!
