Doris J. Anderson, 81, formerly of Oregon and Elmore, OH passed peacefully on to heaven on Monday, March 9, 2009 from Riverview Nursing Home in Oak Harbor, OH. Doris was born February 21st, 1928 in Detroit, MI, and grew up in Terre Haute, IN. She attended Northwest Nazarene College in Boise, ID. Doris was the wife of a Nazarene minister, Rev. Robert Anderson, for nearly 30 years. In this capacity, she lived and served over the years in Texas, California, Colorado, Kansas, Alabama, and finally Ohio. Throughout her many years in ministry she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, played piano and organ, sang in the choir, and sang in many duets and trios with her lovely alto voice. Doris also worked for many years at the Lutheran Homes on Seaman Rd. in Oregon, OH as a Bookkeeper with Rev. Gerald Labuhn. Doris had 4 daughters, - - Jane, Joan, Jill, and Jennifer. She had 7 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. She was a loving, caring, giving mother, grandmother, and Christian woman. Doris favorite pastime was shopping for bargains. She continuously and generously gave to family, friends, and those in need. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by loving sister Ruth Ellen Earl Sutherland of Santa Cruz, CA, daughter Jane Dave Lewis of Louisville, KY, daughter Joan Joe Williams of Dallas, TX, daughter Jill Dave Tippett of Gibsonburg, OH, and daughter Jennifer Michael Anderson Morris of Lindsey, OH. Her grandchildren are Paul Shellenberger of Wichita, KS, April Shown, Holli Pawley, and Heidi Shown of Louisville, KY, Julia Vasko of Anchorage, AK, Johnathon and Joseph Morris of Lindsey, OH. Great grandchildren are Nicholas, Meredith, Cameron, and Andrew. Always a giving person to the end, Doris donated her body to the University of Toledo Medical College. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 11th at Hope Community Church of the Nazarene on Starr Ave. Extension in Oregon, OH at 11:00 a.m. Those who wish to make a monetary contribution in Doris memory can give to the Alzheimers Association Northwest Ohio Chapter in Toledo, OH.
