Doren C. Wells, age 68, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Born on September 14, 1957, in Burlington, Iowa. He dedicated many years of his career to the skilled trades and retired from the Carpenters Local Union. A talented craftsman, Doren was known for his willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help building, repairing, or restoring something. One of his proudest accomplishments was using his carpentry expertise to transform a condemned house into a beautiful home.

Outside of his work, Doren embraced a variety of interests. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with his two beloved cats, and playing the banjo with the Hand Hewn String Band. Through his music, he performed at numerous area festivals, historic events, and local venues, including the Fayette Opera House

Doren is survived by his mother, Suzanna Wells; brothers, Don Wells Jr. and D.J. Wells; sister, Suzie (Michael) Malanyaon; nephews, May Malanyaon and Vincent Malanyaon; and nieces, Kylie Malanyaon and Nia Malanyaon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wells, and his grandparents, Ac and Irene Wischmeier.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Maumee United Methodist Church, 405 Sackett Street, Maumee, Ohio. A memorial service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.

Doren will be remembered for his craftsmanship, musical talent, generosity, and the many ways he used his skills to improve the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the homes he built, the music he shared, and the family and friends who cherished him.
