Doreen Szabo

Doreen Szabo, 96 years young, wife of the late John Szabo, passed away peacefully at Kingston Nursing home. She was born February 5, 1919 to Thomas and Jane Smyth in Belfast, Ireland. At age 4, she and her family moved to Toledo, Ohio. She attended Waite High School and married John, the love of her life, on August 6, 1937. She had two children, John and Jane (deceased). Left to cherish her memory are; her son John (Greta), seven grandchildren, Dr. Sue Szabo-Smith (Dr. David), Cindy Lenhart (Lyle), John Szabo Jr. (Cindy), Shelly Speck (Bruce), Ronda Buchan (Pat), Renee Kromenacker (Ray), Robin Szabo; ten great grandchildren, Brooke, Nick and Austin Speck, Cheyenne Davis, Jacob, Connor and Adam Lenhart, Anna Roberts (Luke), Liam Kromenacker, Madeline Schroeder and one great, great grandson, Noah Roberts. She loved and cared for all her children and devoted her life to them. The family will be receiving friends at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) from 4-7:00 pm. on Thursday, October 15, 2015, with funeral services immediately following at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private. The family wishes to thank Keri and Kelly of Promedica Hospice for their loving care and support during her stay at Kingston. Also many thanks to the staff of Kingston for their support and understanding during these past weeks. The family requests that any donations be given to Promedica Hospice.
