Donna J. Wunderley, age 99, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at StoryPoint in Waterville, Ohio.
Born on June 18, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of Harold and Agnes (Miltz) Hunter. Donna was a proud graduate of Waite High School, which she fondly remembered as the best years of her life.
A devoted homemaker for most of her adult life, Donna dedicated herself to raising her family with love and faith. She was a woman of deep and steadfast belief, rooted in her life-long Lutheran faith. She began her spiritual journey at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, continued at St. James, where she also served as a church secretary, and later worshiped at Epiphany Lutheran and most recently, at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was an active participant in church life and especially proud of her seven-year involvement in a Bible study group that deepened her faith and friendships.
Donna married the love of her life, James Wunderley, on January 18, 1947. Together, they shared a love of sports, especially attending University of Toledo athletic events. The two had a spirit of adventure that took them to all 50 U.S. states and 20 European countries.
She is survived by her son, David (Judy) Wunderley; grandchildren, Brandon (Brooke) Wunderley, Melissa (Justin) Smith, Rachel, James, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Caleb Meyers; great-grandchildren, Aianna (Josh) Clark, Adria and Branson Smith, Sadie, Nolan, Ethan Wunderley, Giovanni, Santino, Violet, and Arthur Meyers; and great-great-grandson, Atticus Mackie. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wunderley, along with their infant son, Mark Wunderley; their daughter, Marsha Meyers and son-in-law, Christopher Meyers; one brother, Richard Hunter, and her parents, Harold and Agnes Hunter.
Donna will be remembered for her unshakable faith, her boundless love for her family, and her joy for life’s adventures both near and far. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, devotion, and grace.
