Donna Jean Schmidt

Donna Jean Schmidt, age 89, of Maumee passed away on Sunday February 22, 2015 at Swan Creek Retirement Village. She was born on March 29, 1925 in Lorain, Ohio to Ernest and Jewell (Mahla) Brown. Donna was a graduate of Lorain High School where she enjoyed drama and music, especially the violin and piano. Donna furthered her education at Bowling Green State University, where she met George and later married him on August 31, 1945. She was member of Maumee United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. Donna worked in the U.S. Steel plant in Lorain during WWII. For over 25 years, she was a teacher for Perrysburg Schools at Frank Elementary; Maumee City Schools at Wayne Trail and also Cygnet Schools. Donna is survived by her sons, George H. (Wendy) II and Jeffrey E. (Anna); grandchildren, Noah, Nicole, Orion, Morgan; sister, Sally Otterbacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, George. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, Ohio. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Maumee.
