Donna M. Mather died peacefully on December 30, 2016 at the age of 85. She was a lifelong resident of the Toledo and Sylvania area. Donna was an intelligent and hardworking woman who graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Toledo. Donna pursued a lifelong career in teaching; she taught at several grade schools within the Toledo Public Schools and after some years became a principal. She so loved her career that after retiring she continued on as a substitute principal. Donna led a very active life; she loved traveling, playing tennis and was an accomplished violinist who played in the Toledo Symphony. Her love of tennis never lessened and believe it or not she played into her 80’s. She also had a great love of animals and always had cats or dogs in her life and never failed to feed the squirrels in the winter. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, David Mather and her brothers, Arthur James and Leroy Herdman. She left behind two nephews, Jeff James and Kevin James; niece, Tracey James; and her sister-in-law, Bonnie James all of whom reside in California. Donna was a wonderful aunt and a great friend to Bonnie and Art. She lived and loved life to its fullest and will always be remembered in our hearts.
