Donna Jean Laughlin

Donna Jean Laughlin, 92, of Erie, MI passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on May 11, 1930 in St. Marys, OH to Garold and Albertine Schamp and she later married Lawrence Laughlin on March 25, 1950.

Donna was a 1948 graduate of Whitmer High School. While raising 8 children, she worked for Canteen Vending, J.C. Penney Distribution and One Hour Martinizing before retiring. Donna loved her Detroit Tigers and her Michigan Wolverines, as well as watching the Gameshow Network. She also enjoyed scratch-off lottery tickets, doing puzzles and indulging in York Peppermint Patties. In her younger years, Donna could be found at her grandchildren’s sporting events cheering them on. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially for cookouts and holidays. Donna will be remembered for her fierce independence and her stubborn streak. She was always the caregiver and put everyone else before herself.

Donna is survived by her loving children, Dennis (Frances), Arlis (Randy) Gomoll, Gregg, Michael (Sandra), Pamela (Don) Hudkins, Thomas (Patricia), Kristina (Skip) Grindstaff, Vicki (Andy Rodriguez); 18 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband of 50 years, Lawrence.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, especially to nurse Jeanine, and an extra special thanks to neighbor and new forever family friend, Jessica. We will be forever grateful for your love and kindness you have both shown our mother.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623 (419-841-2422). Burial will be held privately at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
