Donald A. Witt

Donald A. Witt, 85, of Martin, Ohio, passed away on March 8, 2022, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Don was born on June 25, 1936, to Rudolph H. and Luella C. (Bockbrader) Witt, in Martin, Ohio. He married Shirley (Witt) on June 22, 1957, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Genoa, Ohio. Don joined the Ohio National Guard in 1962, and served until 1968.

Don was a rubber chemist for Plabell Rubber in Toledo, Ohio for 23 years and later for Ottawa Rubber in Bradner, Ohio for 22 years until his retirement in 2001. After Don retired, he worked for 12 years, part time, for Clay Township as a seasonal worker mowing along the roads. Also, during his retirement, he enjoyed helping his son Terry, with his towing and repair business, driving a tow truck and running errands. In his early years, Don enjoyed farming as a hobby and fishing. Don was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Martin (Blackberry Corners), Ohio and held numerous positions from custodian to church president.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley, son, Michael Witt, brother, Leroy Witt, sisters, Margaret Berger and Ginny Gnepper, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Terry Witt.

Visitation for Don will be held from 2-6 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2022, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio. The funeral service will be conducted at 10 AM, Friday, March 11, 2022, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17877 W. St. Rt. 579, Martin, Ohio, with interment to follow in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ohio. Memorials, in Don’s name may be directed to the church or the Donor’s choice.
