On March 26, 2018, our beloved father, Donald Volk, peacefully passed into heaven. He was a lifelong resident of Toledo, most recently of Oakleaf Village community. He was a retiree of Jeep Corporation, a WW II Army veteran, and a longtime member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church. He was pre deceased by his wife Esther and son Larry. He is survived by son Roger (Penny) and daughter Nanci, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two nieces, his “mentor” Gary Shinn and many, many friends. “Don” was a volunteer for several organizations over the years to include Flower Hospital, Church Women United Thrift, Habitat for Humanity, and Henderson Settlement (UMC) in Kentucky to name a few. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved his beagles, and a fixer/putterer in his garage “playhouse”. Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave,, April 4th, 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of his life will be at Sylvania First United Methodist Church, 7000 Erie St., Sylvania, OH 43560 April 5th at 11 a.m. with internment following at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and at Dad’s request, donations may be made in his name to Church Women United Thrift, 631 S. Crissy Rd., Holland, OH 43528.
