Donald T. Soncrant

SONCRANT DONALD T. Donald T. Soncrant age 80 of Toledo passed away suddenly Thursday, May 15, 2008 in Toledo Hospital. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed genealogy, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be missed and loved forever by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; sons Dr. Tim Soncrant Dr. Deena Shapiro and Michael Soncrant; daughter Elizabeth Alan Sprunk; grandchildren David and Andrew Soncrant and Michael and Kathryn Sprunk; aunts and uncles Marlene and Bill Boyce, Joan and Jack Boyce and Mary and Don Boyce; and many other friends and relatives. Don was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law Gladys and Norton Moon. He was born July 1, 1927 in Toledo to Thomas and Edith Baumgartner Soncrant. A veteran of the navy, he was a graduate of the University of Toledo where he received his mechanical engineering degree. While at college he was on the track team and president of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was also the number one student in the state in engineering in 1950. Don was an engineer at the former Modern Pattern and Plastics and the Champion Spark Plug Company before forming Donald T. Soncrant and Associates, Inc. Friends may call at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave., west of Corey on Sunday from 3-7 PM where funeral services will be held Monday at 10 AM. with Fr. James Auth officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to American Heart Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Diabetes Association.
