Donald J. Rozick

Don Rozick, age 77, caught the westbound home on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He was born April 24, 1946, in East Cleveland, Ohio to Paul and Pearl (Schack) Rozick. On October 9, 1971, he married Kathleen Hubach in Cleveland, Ohio. Don graduated from St. Joseph High School, Cleveland, Ohio, in 1964 and Fenn College/Cleveland State University in 1969. He held a BBA with a major in transportation. As a medic, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1968 to 1975 with the 102nd General Hospital (Parma, Ohio) and 983rd Engineers (Toledo, Ohio). Don hired out with the Norfolk & Western Railway as a locomotive fireman in 1970, took his promotion exam to locomotive engineer in 1976, and retired from Norfolk Southern Corp. in 2006. He was legislative representative for Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 385 (Toledo, Ohio) and served as an advisor to the BLET Ohio State Legislative Board after retirement and with the Operation Lifesaver Program. As an Assistant Scout Master of Troop 329 (Woodville, Ohio), Don organized and participated in two horseback Cavaleades to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He continued to work with the Scouts as a railroad merit badge advisor.


Don is survived by his wife, Kathy; sons, Steven of Jacksonville, Florida and Brian (Janet) of Whitehouse, Ohio; and grandchildren, Avery, Ethan, Zoe, and Zane. His parents and brother, John preceded him in death.


Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, where a Prayer Service will begin at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John XXIII, 24250 N. Dixie Highway, Perrysburg, Ohio, on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Ravine Cemetery, 6511 Ravine Drive, Sylvania, Ohio. Memorials may be directed to Erie Shores Council – Boy Scouts of America, 5600 W. Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, Ohio, 43623 or Otterbein Sunset Senior Life, 9640 Sylvania-Metamora Road, Sylvania, OH 43560.
