Donald Gene Rhodus

Donald Gene Rhodus, age 83 of Toledo passed away Monday, May 2, 2016 in Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania. He was born August 1, 1932 in Anderson, Indiana to Coleman and Esther (Farmer) Rhodus. Don was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 3rd. Infantry during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged he joined the United States Air Force. He worked for the former Bartley Food Distributors and retired from the Jeep Corporation. He was a member of VFW Post 2898 where he served as past Commander and was also past County Council Commander. Don enjoyed his family, friends, camping and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn; brothers Walter Ray, and Robert; sister Dorothy Ann; brother-in-law Walter Butch sister-in-law Marilyn; and his dogs Magnum and Killer. Surviving are his daughters Cathy (Doug) Westfall and Rosemarie (Ron) Beauregard; grandchildren Jason (Angie), Randi (Drew), Tara (Eric), Ron (Angie), Devin (Michelle) and Ryan; 11 great grandchildren with one on the way; sister Barbara Sue; sisters-in-law Virginia (Richard), Judy (Mike) and Grace; and brother-in-law Jerry (Ana). Friends will be received at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey) on Thursday from 4-8 PM where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 AM followed by interment at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. VFW Post 2898 will conduct services Thursday at 7 PM in the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Lewis and Gladys for their many years of care.
