Donald E. Rettig

Donald Eugene Rettig, age 77, of Toledo, died November 27, 2017 at the Manor at Perrysburg. He was born January 16, 1940 in Holgate to the late Lester and Emma (Benien) Rettig and grew up on the family farm. He was a self-employed carpenter, primarily remodeling homes. He had also been employed as a lab tech with Pilkington, factory supervisor at United Technologies and owned and operated a farm implement business, selling John Deere products. Don was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, working on cars, and going on walks and to garage sales with his wife. Don is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Lynette Zachrich, Darla (Scott) Fehann, Joann Fehann and David (Fay) Rettig; step children, Jennifer, Jeffrey (Danielle) and Andrew (Maria) Roe; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Rettig and Lois Bertelf; and son-in-law, Donald Rutter; He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Rutter. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 1, 2017. Interment will be private. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Association.
