Donald Nelson

Nelson Donald Alexander Donald Alexander Nelson, age 83, passed away peacefully Monday, January 21, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. Born in Warren, PA in 1924, Don attended the Missouri School of Mines, where he was a charter member of Chi Epsilon Fraternity, and Shurtleff College in Alton, IL. After serving in the US Army Air Force, Don married the love of his life, Reva Foulks, with whom he recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Don was a member of First Christian Church in Alton, IL and also was a longtime member of Upper Alton Baptist Church. He was a very involved father to his three children and volunteered as scout master for the Boy Scouts in the early 1960s, coached little league baseball, and taught Sunday school. After moving to the Toledo area, he belonged to Boulevard Church of Christ and Monroe Christian Church in Michigan. He also formed many friendships at the Wildwood Athletic Club. Don is survived by his loving wife, Reva; children, David Kris Nelson, Dale Ann Tim Eckstein, and Jennifer Jeff Knott; grandchildren, James Chrissy Knott , Dr. Greg Suzuko Knott; Shane Bryant; and Wednesday Marc Baldwin, Brittany Mike Johnston and David Andrew Nelson and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn and Beatrice and brother-in-law, Gene Baierlein. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8:00 pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm.
