Donald John Millington

December 8, 1932 — October 22, 2010

In peace with his family by his side, Donald J. Millington, age 77, passed away Friday Oct. 22, 2010 at his home. The son of Arthur and Lillian, he was born Dec. 8, 1932 in Chicago, IL. Don served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. in the 1st Marine Division during the Korean War where he earned 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He married the love of his life, Ardith Hendrick, on June 18, 1955 in Oaklawn, IL. He was the Vice President of Operations for Century Equipment retiring in 1998 after 34 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League, Northwest Ohio Korean War Veterans, 1st Marine Division Association, and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Don was an avid sports fan and was also a past president of the former Sylvania Area Recreation Association. Don is survived his loving wife of 55 years, Ardith; daughter, Melissa Millington Donia; son, Matthew Millington; sister, Dale Ulrich; brother, Tom Millington; grandchildren, Meghan, Lauren, and Sean Millington; and former daughter-in-law Renee Millington. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Victor Donia. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 3-8 PM at the Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Dons memory may be made to the 1st Marine Division Association Scholarship Fund 403 N. Freeman Street Oceanside, CA 92054 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
