Donald Leroy Marion

Donald Leroy Shorty Marion age 87 of Maumee, Ohio passed in his home surrounded by his family. Don was born in Ludington MI on July 20, 1922 to Julian Everett Marion and Violet L. Osborn Marion. Shorty owned and operated Shortys Maumee Shoe Repair for 10 years. Shorty also was a fire fighter at the Selfridge Airbase Fire Department and the Maumee Volunteer Fire Department for a total of 27 years. Shorty was a WWII Army veteran. His memberships included VFW Post 11115, IOOF 682 Maumee, and the American Legion Post 320. Shorty was an avid reader and collected baseball caps. He is survived by his son, Donald E. April Marion; daughter, Nancy Garland Seegert; brother, John Joan Marion; grandchildren, Jammy Mike McGinnis; Douglas Marion, Robert Marion, Dennis Marion, Randall Seegert and Christine Jamie Bickerstaff. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma G. Marion; his parents; sister, Pricilla Mike Campbell and step-mother, Mary. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, from 5-9 PM and Thursday from 2-9 PM at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 112 E. Wayne Street, Maumee, Ohio. The Odd Fellows will conduct services at 7:30 PM Thursday in the funeral home.
