Donald R. Maher, Jr.

Donald R. Maher, Jr. passed away peacefully in Springfield, Ohio on June 11, 2015.  Doni was born on October 6, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to parents Donald R., Sr. and Carolee R. (Koehl) Maher.   He was a 1975 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School.  He attended the University of Toledo where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and Owens Community College. Doni worked at Reham Industries, Inc. with his father who founded the company.   During his residence in Curtice, Ohio he held the office of Mayor for one term. Later, moving to Springfield, Ohio, Doni was employed at Aetna Building Maintenance. Doni’s passion for golf and travel, gave him the opportunity to play on the courses in Ireland and Scotland.  Doni was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers rarely missing an opening game.  He was also an avid boater, fisherman, hunter and New Orleans Saints fan.    He also held a membership to the Elks Lodge.  His sense of humor left everyone either chuckling or shaking their heads.  He repeatedly said, Thats the one thing theyll never take from me, my sense of humor and sunny disposition. Doni was preceded in death by his father, Donald R., Sr.; grandparents, Marcel and Mabel Koehl, Kathleen Koehl; and Edward and Rose Maher.  He is survived by his mother, Carolee Maher; sisters, Kathleen (John) ONeil, Denise (Terry) Benton, and Marcia (Steven) Pisanti; loving nieces and nephews, Kristen Mollenkopf, Kaylee and Keegan ONeil, Dominic, Michael, and Isabella Pisanti. May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane Toledo, OH 43623.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Foundation in honor of Father Ronald Olszewski 2323 Bancroft St. Toledo, OH 43607 or Open Door Ministries 2823 Cherry St Toledo, OH 43608.  Online condolences may be shared at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
