Donald Low

Donald Low (Law Siu Pak), 88, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, June 18, 2018. He was born in Hoy-Ping, Province of Guangdong, China on August 28, 1929. He worked as a tailor in Hong Kong before coming to the United States on June 20, 1970. Donald and his wife Frances immigrated to Ohio with their 5 young children to make a better life for their family. They had 2 more children in the US and together they raised their family of 7 kids in Perrysburg until her passing in 2006. Donald started working as a chef for The Fort Meigs Restaurant in Perrysburg and various other Chinese restaurants including many years at the Wayward Inn (Rossford). With his family, he co-owned Golden Court Restaurant in Perrysburg where he retired in 1992. After retirement, Donald become active in his passion of Tai Chi and became an instructor at the Asian Resource Center, 577 Foundation, and the Perrysburg Senior Center. Even in retirement, Donald was very active and many in the Perrysburg community knew him as he did his daily Tai Chi exercises in the alley next to his house, or saw him on his walks through the downtown area. Donald is survived by his children, Jerry (Janet) Low, Lila (Timothy) Szozda, Pauline (John) Low, George (Laurie) Low, Jackie (Andrew) Herd, Mai Ling (Dolan) Malloy, John (Anne) Low, and his children from China: Ruiling Luo (Riguang), Yanghao Luo (Guanhua), Shutang Luo (Zhuzhuan); fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Bowman Loo and William Loo from Toronto and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Frances Low and Yet-On Lee of China; and long time friend and sponsor Lee Low. Friends will be received Friday, June 22, 2018 from 2-8 p.m. at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) and Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 9-11 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
