Donald Edward Kwiatkowski, 84, of Whitehouse, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1938 to Edward and Pearl (Matuszynski) Kwiatkowski. Don was a 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Don proudly served as an E-1 Seaman in the United States Coast Guard from 1961-1969. He was stationed throughout the country: Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, and Cape May, NJ. After being honorably discharged, Don was hired at ChemCentral where he worked for 33 years as plant manager. He retired in 1994.
On November 11, 1967 Don married his soul mate, Patricia (Hipp) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Toledo. They were married 55 years before her death in November, 2022. Together they raised four children: Scott, Greg, Tim, and Deanna. Don loved to travel with his wife and close group of friends. He was an avid card player and would always want to play against his children and grandchildren. Over the years he enjoyed a multitude of hobbies including gardening and canning the vegetables he grew. He was an active sportsman who loved golfing, bowling, and fishing. He even dabbled in coaching basketball with his sons. In his later years he explored cooking and baking and loved a good strawberry pie! Don was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan who was always waiting for them to reach the Superbowl.
Don is survived by his children: D. Scott (Monique) Kwiatkowski, Gregory M. Kwiatkowski, Timothy Kwiatkowski, and Deanna (Matt) Olsen, and his grandchildren: Grace, Jack, Gunner, Brianne, Zachary, Olivia ‘Birdie,’ Ethan, Lucy, Allison, Autumn, and Calli. Also surviving are sister Janice (Frank) Lechlak, brothers Thomas (Carole) Kwiatkowski, Nicholas Kwiatkowski, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Patricia, and brother Gerald Kwiatkowski.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church,(104 W. Broadway), Maumee. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30am. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the church. Memorial contributions can be made in Donald’s honor to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
