Donald R. Kubicki

Donald R. Kubicki, age 94, passed away Tuesday August 4, 2015 at Otterbein Perrysburg. The son of Steven and Helen Kubicki, he was born June 3, 1921 in Toledo. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. After returning home to Toledo, he began his career with the Toledo Blade until his retirement. Danny was known to visit the casinos and horse tracks from time to time. He enjoyed gardening especially tomatoes and cucumbers. He would often take trips to upper Michigan, where he love to play cards, pick blueberries and fish. He loved his dogs and their companionship. Danny will be remembered most as a gentle and easy going man. He is survived by his sister, Alice Isett; niece, Cheryl (Grant) Jones; great nieces, Amanda Still and Jessica (Chris) Hand; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Kubicki; nieces & nephews, Dennis (Lindsey) Kubicki, Chris Kubicki, Bonnie (John) Tursich, Sandy (David) Woychik, and several great nieces & nephews; special friends Rita Leiby, Rene, Dale and Becky Stewart, Jonathan and Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fritz Kubicki and brother-in-law, Phillip Isett. Friends may visit the family on Friday at Walker Funeral Home 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) from 2-8 PM with a scripture service at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 AM Saturday followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Church 2240 Castlewood Dr. Toledo, OH 43613. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
