Donald G. Kilis

Donald G. Kilis, age 73, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away October 27, 2023. He was born January 25, 1950, in Toledo, OH to Leonard and Margaret (Duricek) Kilis. Don grew up in the Kouschwantz neighborhood of Toledo. He was a 1968 graduate of Macomber High School and continued on to complete his apprenticeship in carpentry. He worked for Adam Wholesalers for 32 years building doors and windows. Don used his carpentry skills to build his home in Perrysburg. He served his country for 6 years in the Air Force Reserves stationed at Camp Perry. Don’s favorite pastime was building military models. He relished the intricate work of painting small details on the many tiny parts. In his younger years, Don was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and always Ohio State Football. For 22 years, Don and Jane enjoyed vacationing in North Myrtle Beach, SC. An animal lover, Don and Jane had three Pomeranians, Muffy, Amber and Lilly.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jane; stepsisters, Cheryl Sears and Becky Hackenberg; stepbrothers, Mike and Steve Akenberger; sister-in-law, Von Kilis; and niece, Nicole (Brad) Brickner. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James C. Kilis; mother-in-law, Donna (Richard) Akenberger; father-in-law, Jerry Lusher; and sister-in-law, Julie.

Don will be laid to rest in a private graveside service at Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Wood County Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
