Donald James Lazenby, 80, of Lakeside-Marblehead, OH, passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 25, 2023 after a battle with cancer. Donald was born on November 14, 1942 to John and Alice Lazenby in Toledo, OH. After graduating from High School he went to work as a mechanic, then worked for MotorExpress for over 20 years, became the Administrator for the Moose Lodge 1610 in Port Clinton, OH for over 16 years and then finished his last ten years at Kroger’s before retiring.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time at the races with family and friends. Don and Mary enjoyed many travels (Florida, California, Chicago, Tennessee) but especially enjoyed their time in the Bahamas. They also enjoy many trips to the Amish country, collecting maple syrup and apple cider.
Donald met Maryrose Ehle in Toledo OH.. They fell in love and were married on January 14, 1967. Donald and Maryrose had four(4) children: Diane M. Schimming (Gibsonburg, OH), Michael Lazenby (Oak Harbor, OH), Timothy Lazenby (Toledo, OH) and Deborah (Jason) Lenke (Oak Harbor, OH). They also have six (6) grandchildren: Erica (Bryan) Laughlin, Rachel (Shaun) Yurista, Felisha (Nate) Holcomb, Amber (Travis) Meek, Phoebe Lenke and Paige Lenke. In addition they have seven (7) great-grandchildren: Stella, Claire and Cordell Laughlin, Carter and Caiden Yurista, Gabriella Holcomb and Gunner Meek. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Schalpman (Lynchburg, VA) and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, John Lazenby, mother, Alice Mominee, brothers: William Lazenby and Harvey Lazenby and sister: Margaret Blackwood.
Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, along with a service officiated by The Moose at 4:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 11 am, with a luncheon to follow at Port Clinton Knights of Columbus 109 E. Perry Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452.
