Donald N. Honner

Donald N. Honner, of Pemberville, Ohio, formerly of Waterville, died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012, at the age of 87. He was born May 21, 1925, in Perrysburg, Ohio, to Albert F. and Esther Savory Honner. On October 11, 1969, at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa, Ohio, he married Bertha M. Camper and she survives. Donald was a 1943 graduate of Maumee High School and a 1949 graduate from Purdue University with a degree in structural engineering. He began working in Evansville, Indiana, and then for various firms in the Toledo area. After 20 years he retired from The Andersons engineering department and continued to be a consultant for them after retirement. Donald served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Genoa and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and large puzzles. Donald and Bertha loved to travel-to the Canadian Rockies, Hawaii, Alaska, Bermuda, Europe and throughout the United States. In addition to his wife, Bertha, Donald is survived by his nieces, Pam Hal Licht and Diane Paul Forquer, sister-in-law, Rita Honner, and in-laws, Audrey and Wilferd Foss, Phyllis Camper, Judy Camper, Jerry Camper, Marian Cole and nephew and nieces, Michael Wendy Foss, Laurie David Cody and Susan Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Glenn and Edward Honner, and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and J. Edward Boyle. The funeral service for Donald will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at St. Johns United Church of Christ chapel, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery. There will be an hour of visitation at the church from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials for Donald may be given to St. Johns UCC, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430; or the donors choice.
