Donald A. Helle, Sr.

Donald A Helle, 81, of Martin, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Toledo. Donald was born May 26 1927, in Williston, Ohio, to Arthur and Stella Base Helle. On March 12, 1949 in Williston, Ohio Donald married Violet Mae Newton, and she preceded him in death in 1992. Before retiring in 1992 he worked for 24 years at the Libby Owens Ford Plant in Rossford. Prior to working at L.O.F. he worked at the Erie Ordinance Proving Grounds in Port Clinton. Donald enjoyed farming, reading the newspaper, and attending local festivals. Donald is survived by his children, Mary Jim Lewis of Woodville, Donald Loy Helle Jr. of Port Clinton, Terry Delores Helle of Gibsonburg, Yvonne Lee Slater of Burgoon, OH, Ricky Helle of Rising Sun, OH, Tim Carol Helle of Woodville, stepson, Frederick Carolyn Newton of Oak Harbor, 12 granchildren, 16 great grandchildren, siblings, Robert Helle of Curtice, Gerald Lois Helle and Elroy Helle of Williston, Alice Ernest Nagy of Oregon, OH, Phyllis Jim Haeft of Williston, Betty Bill McKluckie of Toledo, and Eileen Shankle of Clearwater, Florida. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Violet, sisters, Delores Fouke and Marion Helle, and brother, Gaylord Helle. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008, with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Genoa. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2008, in the funeral home, with interment to follow in Allen Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Donald may be given to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District-Station 1 in Williston, or the American Heart Association.
