Donald L. Heinzerling, 80, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, OH, following a brief illness. Don was born on April 19, 1937 in Castalia, OH, the son of Raymond and Esther (Krueger) Heinzerling. On October 05, 1985, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Gene E. Wolf-Mattox and she survives. Don worked as a tool & die maker for General Motor’s in Sandusky, Oh, retiring in 1999 after almost 25 years. Don was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. He was a member of the 5am McDonald’s Coffee Club. Don had a lifelong love affair with the Ford Tri Motors. He built a 1/6 scale model which is being shown at the Liberty Aviation Museum. He loved classic cars, having rebuilt a 1929 Ford Roadster. Don loved gardening and was a master carpenter, having built many pieces for family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Loving Wife: Gene Heinzerling; Children: Daniel (Cheri) Heinzerling of Cleveland, Dena (Doug) Moore of Port Clinton, Juleah (Tom) Mattox-Clunk of Sylvania and Jacque (Aaron) Mattox-Brown of Grove City; Grandchildren: Olivia & Hanna Clunk, Morgan & Mallory Brown, Isabella & Gavin Heinzerling; Sister: Linda (Clare) Kosbab of Blacklick, OH; Mother-in-Law: Grace Wolf of Port Clinton and many loving Nieces & Nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother: John Heinzerling. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8PM, Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH, where family prayers will be held at 9:30AM, Thursday at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Father John Missler at 10:00AM, on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.
