Donald Arthur Hamm

Donald “Don” Arthur Hamm, age 90, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on July 30th, 2023, surrounded by family. Don was born in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, on January 2nd, 1933, to his late parents, George and Loretta (Hunter) Hamm. Don graduated from Nazareth High School. Shortly thereafter, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. Following his return from Korea, he met and later married Marian Ekey. Don became a certified land surveyor and was an avid supporter of Marian throughout her professional nursing career and together, the two had five children.

Don and Marian later moved to Toledo where he established himself in his career as a land surveyor, the field he continued with until his retirement. He enjoyed bowling and golfing with friends and with his sons on Father’s Day and was most proud of his infamous hole in one. In his leisure time, Don also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, taking weekends to visiting different casinos and most of all socializing at Shawn’s Irish tavern where he loved meet friends and play Keno.

Donald is survived by his children, Michael (Paula) Hamm, Stephen (Kathleen) Hamm, Marjorie Zonner, David Hamm and daughter in-law Kathy Hamm; eight grandchildren, Christa (Bruno), Melissa (Brian), Eric, Nick, Adam, Danny, Kevin and Madison; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Sienna, Leona, and Everly. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Hamm; parents, George and Loretta Hamm; son, Jeffrey Hamm; brother, Jimmy Hamm; and nephew, Kirk Hamm.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18th, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo. His funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am, with interment following at Resurrection Cemetery. The family would like to thank Promedica Hospice for their loving care.
