Donald R. Gardner, 64, of Bowling Green, died early Wednesday morning, February 17, 2010, in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Don was born April 15, 1945, in Fremont, Ohio, to Robert C. and P. Theodora Smith Gardner. He received his masters degree in education and taught school. He also was a school psychologist, most recently at Northwood schools, and had been a principal at Woodmore schools. He was very active in the Masons, belonging to the Genoa Lodge No. 433 F. A.M. Dons interests included wood carving, wood burning, and bird watching. Don is survived by his sons, Todd Emily Gardner of Massachusetts, Jay Susan Gardner of Perrysburg, and Trent Stacey Gardner of Toledo; grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas, Samantha, and Emma Gardner; sisters, Ruth DClute of Millbury and Linda Charles Cherry of Genoa; nieces, Tami Steve Heritage, Teri Ted Fisher, and Denise Gardner; and nephews, David Robin DClute, Donald Rebecca DClute, Kirk Wendy Gardner, and Kenneth Jody Gardner. His parents, brother, Richard Gardner, and nephew, Daniel DClute, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa; a Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, in St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, with burial to follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Memorials for Don may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
