Donald Ray Flayler, 70, of Oak Harbor passed away Friday, August 10, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on September 4, 1947 in Dayton, OH to Donald E. and Dorothy A. (Grooms) Flayler. On November 23, 1973 in Oak Harbor he married Joan M. Foss, and she survives. Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam War Era, earning a Purple Heart and 3 Bronze Stars during his service. Donald graduated from Tiffin University with a bachelors degree and worked as a branch manager for Toledo Service Supply. He enjoyed bowling, ceramics, and landscaping. In addition to his loving wife of over 44 years, Joan, Donald is survived by his son, Mark Flayler, daughter, Jamie (Thomas) Rohrer, and 3 grandsons, Mason & Merrick Flayler and Jacob Rohrer, sister, Kathy Flayler, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation for Donald will be 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Sherman 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Bethel Church, 2920 S. State Route 590, Elmore, OH with burial to follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor with military graveside services conducted. The family has suggested that memorials for Donald be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, American Cancer Society, or The Honor Flight Program.
