Donald Breese

Donald Breese, age 86, of Toledo passed away peacefully following a long and interesting life on Saturday December 10, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice. He was born in Oregon, Ohio on October 6, 1930 to Clarence and Agnes (Garry) Breese. As an outstanding quarterback for Clay High School Don was recruited in high school by Woody Hayes and played with Bo Schembechler. While at Miami he was active in the Miami Acapella group and had the great opportunity to sing with Patty Page and appear on the Milton Burle Show. Following his college career, Don graduated from the Western Reserve School of and successfully passed the bar exam. After graduating from Law School, Don married Barbara Trumbull in 1955. In September of that year Don also began his military career by actively serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon his return from Korea, he began a long career in commercial banking. Throughout his career Don served on many corporate and charitable boards, was a member at the Inverness Country Club and past president of the Jamie Farr LPGA Tournament. Following the death of his first wife, good friends introduced him to Diane Shaffer. They married in October 1993 and enjoyed a full life of travel, friends and family in their 22 years of marriage. Don is survived by his children, Betsy (John) Schiller, Robert Breese and Amy (Toby) Maxwell; step-children, Debbie (David) Bishop, Dusty (Gina) Shaffer and Amy (Daniel) Schoeck; 14 grandchildren, Jessica (Dan), Abby, Adam, Gabe, Aidan, Lilly, Andy, Hillary, Mitchell, Scott(Katie), Craig, Dana, Whitney and Grant; brother, Garry(Carol) Breese and sister, Martha Hecklinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, second wife Diane Breese and brother, Robert Breese. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11-1 Saturday , December 17, 2016 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. Toledo, Ohio(west of Corey Road) with a memorial service to follow at 1 pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Donors Choice. Online condolences may be given at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com
