Donald A. Bixler

Donald A. Bixler, 54, of Holland, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Ebeid Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 9, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio to Ralph Thomas and Joanne Carol (Keisser) Bixler. He married Roxanne S. Mallory on May 28, 1988. Don was a 1979 graduate of Macomber High School. He attended the Epiphany Lutheran Church in Toledo and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Don worked for over 23 years for The Anderson’s Rail Division. He loved camping, making and brewing his own wine and beer and riding his motorcycle. He took great pride in his computerized Christmas lights display, which at last count totaled over 70,000 different lights. He was also a member of the LOR Group, the Gold Wing Road Riders, Chapter C and the Good Sam’s Club Loafers. Don loved to donate his time and for 20 years volunteered as route coordinator for The MS Bike to the Bay. One of his greatest joys was volunteering and playing Santa not only for his loving family but for the Springfield High School JROTC Santa Breakfast and Bass Pro. Don is survived by his wife, Roxanne S. Bixler; daughter, Courtney A (Robert) Jones; grandchildren, Emily Rose, Paige Lynn, Alison Marie and Steven Andrew; parents, Ralph T. and Joanne C. Bixler; siblings, Carol Ann Speaks-Bixler, Thomas Alan (Shannon) Bixler, Timothy Albert (Lisa) Bixler, Charles Arthur (Martha) Bixler and Dennis Adam (Phyllis) Bixler, many nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Gandolf. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and cherished dog, Ryley. Friends will be received on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879). Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43615 where funeral services will be held following the visitation at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Ebeid Hospice.
