Donald L. Berger

Donald Lincoln Berger, 81, of Williston, joined his parents and brother in heaven on the afternoon of Sunday, August 19, 2018. Don was born September 24, 1936, to Louis and Esther (Younker) Berger at their family farm. He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, Ohio, being baptized, confirmed; and now his Celebration of Life will be held there. On September 13, 1958, he married Margaret A. Witt at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They were looking forward to their 60th wedding anniversary. After graduation from Clay High School, he was employed by the former Libbey-Owens-Ford, retiring after 30 years. He also helped his father on the family farm. He was proud that he had the chance to babysit his two grandchildren from infants to the start of school. He was very proud of their achievements. Don enjoyed fishing, gardening, working in his yard, the family vacations at different lakes, visiting the Amish in Holmes County and watching Detroit Tiger games. He also enjoyed going on several cruises with his wife. Don was always around to help anyone in need. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, sons, Timothy (Cheryl) and Daniel (Pamela), grandchildren, Kelly (Craig) Morse and Jeremiah, his brother, Merle (Shirley) and sister-in-law, Rene Berger. He is also survived by his best companion of later years, canine, Misty, his in-laws, Donald (Shirley) Witt, Leroy (Barbara) Witt, and Ginny (Roy) Gnepper. His parents, brother, Melvin Berger, and parents-in-law, Rudy and Luella Witt, preceded him in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, Williston, with burial to follow in Allen Township Cemetery.
