Donald Ansted

Donald Ansted was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 19th, 1940, and he departed this life on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021. If you asked a hundred people who Don Ansted was, they’d all give you a different story. A Husband, a Dad, a Brother, a Cousin and a Friend. They called him the Eagle at work; he was the Life of the Party; the Best Bartender; he loved to golf; he was an excellent bowler, with multiple 300 games, he loved to dance and play cards and was an avid fan of University of Michigan Football. He loved his family deeply and would always greet you with the warmest smiles and hugs. Don was a 1958 graduate of DeVilbiss High School and was a member of the 1957 State Champions football team. He attended the University of Toledo and was a very proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Phi Alpha! After college Don married his high school sweetheart Kathy in 1963 and began their life together. Don spent the entirety of his career in the automotive sales business and was a successful salesman, manager, and leader in the industry. Don loved boating with his family, dining with his wife and friends and spending time with his brothers at the Wolf’s Club. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Ansted, mother, Florence Ansted and his brother Paul Ansted. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Kathryn Ansted, his daughter Lori, son Jeffrey and wife Heidi; daughter Julie and husband Crosby and youngest son Michael and wife Joanna. He had many grandchildren; Ryan, Rachael, Sarah, Evan, Grant, Colin, Delaney and Ethan who called him Papa. The Celebration of Life will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Saturday, November 6th from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association be made in the name of the deceased. Arrangements were made by Walker Funeral Home.
