Don C. Waggoner, 86, of Port Clinton, OH passed away, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Otterbein Northshore Assisted Living, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH. Don was born in Oak Harbor, OH, on November 05, 1930, the son of Carl and Elsie (Lieske) Waggoner. Don was senior class president, class of 1948 at PCHS and also an Eagle Scout. On June 07, 1952, in Port Clinton, OH, he married Maxine R. Brindley and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2013. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Toledo. Don was the owner/operator of Don C. Waggoner P.E., Inc, his civil engineering and consulting firm. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH, Port Clinton Yacht Club, Colonial Club, Oliver H. Perry Masonic Lodge #341 F. & A.M., where he received his 60 year pin, and a former longtime bank board member/director of the National Bank of Oak Harbor. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader of history, especially military history. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory are: Son: Jeffrey (Deborah) Waggoner of Clarendon Hills, IL; Granddaughter: Melissa (Matthew) Schlesinger of Hoffman Estates, IL; Grandson: Brian (Amanda) Waggoner of Dublin, CA; Great-Grandchildren: Emily and Elise Schlesinger. Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son: Gregory Waggoner. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with Masonic Services held at 1:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service for Don at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Reverend Dr. James Lehman in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St. Port Clinton 43452. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Heartland Hospice or the Port Clinton Firefighter’s Association.
