Dolores "Honey" Thomas

Dolores H. (Rutkowski) Thomas “Honey” ,92, of Toledo, OH passed away, December 6, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born in Toledo, OH, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Rutkowski and Helen Szenderski. She attended Woodward H.S. and at the age of 14, took a job at Siegel’s Delicatessen. It was there that she learned her culinary skills and love of cooking. In the opinion of her family, she was a stellar 5-star chef and baker of cakes, pies, and cookies! Of course, when all the work was done there was much fun, especially playing Scrabble. She met her late husband, William Thomas of 65 years, while waitressing at Bud and Luke’s Restaurant. After marrying, she was happy to be a loving wife, a mom to eight beautiful children, a proud grandmother to 16 wonderful grandchildren, and Gigi Honey to 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. She believed each one of her family members had their own strengths, abilities, and talents and was very proud of them all and loved them even more. Her Catholic faith gave her peace and purpose and helped guide her in instilling values of love, compassion, and faith in raising her children and grandchildren. She was known to always have a kind word or a sweet baked treat to share with others. “Honey” is survived by her children: Bill (Margaret), Den (Cindy), Kathy (Jim Beckham), Pat (Kenney Howard), Sue (Pam Crum), Jim (Darcee), Dave (Cheryl), Dan (Kelly) and grandchildren: Erik (Ann), Brent (Jillian), Amanda (Mike Meyer), Kaitlin (Pat McLoughlin), Michelle (Brian Roessner), Nicole (Antonio Fisher), Michael (Jenny), Adam (Katie), Drew, Brooke (Jordan Piontek), Nate , Austin, Ben, Will, Logan, Jacob and Great grandchildren, Elsie, Corbin, Cameron, Olivia, MacKenzie, Nolan, Griffin, Sadie and baby Beckham on the way. “Honey” was predeceased by her husband, William Thomas, sister- Joan Sydlowski and brother- Paul Rutkowski. Visitation will be held Monday, December 13, 2021, from 3-8 pm at the Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH 43623, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4100 Harvest Lane, Toledo OH 43623 at 9:30 a.m. with the Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Interment following at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH 43560.
