Dolores Jane Manaia, 91 of Oak Harbor, passed away at Riverview Health Campus on December 9th following a short illness. She was born on October 11, 1932 to the late Joseph and Mary (Rivelli) Malvarose. She was the youngest of 13 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She married James Puntureri in August of 1952. He passed away in May of 1967. She married Felix Manaia on January 1, 1977. He survives.
Dolores was a homemaker most of her life, although she and Felix owned and operated a home cleaning service in the 1990’s in Port Clinton. She and Felix volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. Dolores was so fun loving and always optimistic. She was everybody’s mom, grandma, confidante, and friend. Above all, she loved God and absolutely adored her family, and they knew it. She was kind, generous, and always giving of herself. She spent countless hours watching the birds and wildlife in her backyard. She fed every single creature that stepped foot there three squares a day!
Survivors are her daughters Debi (Frans) Bentlage and Patti Kirsch, both of Oak Harbor, Cathy (Gary) Sparr of Michigan, daughter-in-law Ann Puntureri of Pennsylvania, and stepson Anthony Manaia of Florida. Her beloved son Carl Puntureri preceded her in death in 2018. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. There will be a mass and celebration of her life for friends and family at St. Boniface on Friday, April 26, 2024 beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Father Joe Steinbauer officiating.
Dolores’ life was so simple, yet so full. To honor Dolores’ memory, her fondest wish would be that we be kind, patient, and considerate with one another. That is truly her legacy.
